5v5v5 starts next week

The Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association will begin its 5v5v5 program next week. We're excited to see our players back on the field. Please read the following thoroughly.

Each session runs from 6-8 p.m. The schedule is as follows:

  • 16U, 14U & 12U Gold will start July 13th and play Mondays and Wednesdays through July 29th.
  • 12U Maroon, 10U, and 8U will start July 14th and play Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 30th.

**IMPORTANT: Each player will need a COVID screening form. There’s space to fill out multiple dates on the form, so you only need to fill out one copy. The form can be found on the NFSA website as well.

The cost of the program is $25 exact cash or check. Please bring payment the first evening of play.

What to expect

The objective of this program is to build skills while having some fun through friendly competition. Players will be placed into practice pods on the first night of play and assigned a coach. Each session will begin with 45-minutes of skills development and end with a game.

Due to vacations and events, we anticipate swings in attendance so each session may look a little different. Our coaches plan to be flexible to ensure all players have a good experience.

Everyone's help will be needed to implement measures to ensure player, coach and patron safety. Please DO NOT come to any NFSA event if you are feeling ill or experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.

The NFSA has put together a detailed COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. See the plan below. The NFSA asks that all our players, coaches and spectators be respectful and show good faith effort in following the plan.

The NFSA requests that players have a bottle of hand sanitizer in their bat bag. Please encourage your players to use it frequently throughout each session. Coaches will offer reminders. Mask use is optional.

The NFSA recommends bringing your own equipment including gloves, bats, helmets, face masks and any other position specific equipment. The NFSA will issue helmets for to those who don't own one. Players will keep the helmets until the last week of play. The NFSA will have sanitizing materials on site for equipment.

The bleachers will be closed for public use. The NFSA requests that spectators sit along the first or third baseline or in the outfield and socially distance themselves. Spectators should plan to supply their own seating.

Parents will need to submit a check for the $150 Volunteer Fee, per player, at the first coach’s meeting. Families must complete 6 volunteer hours, per player. Once the 6 hours are completed, the check will be destroyed. If a family chooses not to complete the 6 hours, the check will be cashed by July 31st. Volunteer hours can be completed by family members 18 years of age and older.  Players are welcome to help with concession stand shift but may not work alone.

Custom jerseys will be provided for players to keep at the end of the season. Participants need to provide socks, black pants, helmet with chin strap/cage, and glove.  Fielding masks are not required, but are highly recommended for safety.

The NFSA will provide funding for up to two tournaments per team. The Tri County State Qualifier Tournament and the State Tournament are also included in the registration fee.

  • Equal playing time in not guaranteed. Over the course of the regular season, each player will get a fair and ample amount of playing time. Coaches have the authority to limit playing time if a player has absences from games and/or practice.
  • If a player is going to miss any game or practice, the player or a family member must notify the coach in advance. Failure to do so may result in a loss of playing time.
  • The State Qualifier and State Tournaments follow strict ASA rules which restrict substitutions on the line-up card. These rules may result in reduced playing time for some players as the coaches use their best judgement to field the most competitive team.
