Hiring 12U and 14U Coaches!

The Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association is looking for dedicated coaches for the 2022 season for it's 12U and 14U levels. Open positions include head and assistant coach positions. The 12U season begins in April and concludes in July.  The 14U season runs from May through July/early August.  

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated softball knowledge and experience
  • Experience working with youth athletes
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Willing to complete background check and required trainings

2022 16U Team Registration Open

The Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association is excited to announce the continuation of the NFSA 16U program! This program serves fastpitch softball athletes in Northfield and the surrounding areas. Participation will include training and tournaments.

We are also thrilled to announce that Tom Cross will coach the 16U team in 2022! Coach Cross is the current head coach of the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights. 

The NFSA is looking for committed and talented athletes with a passion for the game of softball, a desire to improve, a strong work ethic, and who are ready to be challenged by playing at a high level of competition.

Who: Athletes born in 2005 & 2006 are eligible to try out.

Details:
The 16U team will start meeting in January for weekly winter practices. The association plans to register for one of two dome tournaments before the beginning of the high school season. At the completion of the high school season, the team will convene to play tournaments over the spring and summer months. Some events may include overnight stays. There will be practice and training opportunities throughout the winter, spring and summer.

Time Commitment:
Athletes are expected to attend all practices and tournaments.

Practice – Will include weekly winter sessions and then one or two practices a week during the summer season

Tournaments – Expect to have 1 or 2 dome tournaments in the spring with 3 to 5 tournaments throughout the summer.

Families will be required to complete DIB hours during the season. (6 hours)

Cost:
$1,000 per player. A payment plan is available. 

This includes tournaments, practices, coaching and jerseys. Travel expenses are not included.

NFSA
The Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association (NFSA) is a civic organization whose purpose is to offer supervised competitive sports programs for the youth of Northfield and surrounding areas. To instill in them the principles of sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect.

 

2021 Travel Registration Closed

The Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association has closed registration for the 2021 summer travel fastpitch season. Check back for future playing opportunities. Fall ball registration will open in July.  

8U Traveling - Birth year 2012 & 2013
$225 per player 

  • The primary focus of 8U Traveling is on softball fundamentals, skill development and building a love for the game. 
  • Tryouts may be held to introduce players to the process. 
  • Teams play a league game schedule, plus up to (2) tournaments and a State Tournament. 
  • Practices and play will be held two nights per week. 
  • 8U is a machine pitch league so players will not pitch during games; however, it is strongly encouraged that every player work on pitching during practices. 
  • League games consist of single games around the metro area. The last two league games will be doubleheaders. 

10U-Birth year 2010 &2011

$275 per player 

  • The primary focus is on softball fundamentals, skill development and providing a competitive and fun experience. 
  • Mandatory tryouts will be used to form teams. (Date to be determined) 
  • Teams play a league game schedule, plus a minimum of (2) Tournaments, State Qualifier and State Tournament (if qualified). 
  • Practices and play will be held at least four nights per week. 
  • Player pitch league with teams at the A, B and C levels.  
  • League games consist of doubleheaders around the metro area. 

12U-Birth year 2008 &2009 

$325 per player 

  • The primary focus is on softball fundamentals, skill development and providing a competitive and fun experience. 
  • Mandatory tryouts will be used to form teams. 
  • Teams play a league game schedule, plus a minimum of (3) Tournaments, State Qualifier and State Tournament (if qualified). 
  • Practices and play will be held four nights per week. 
  • Player pitch league with teams at the A, B and C levels.  
  • League games consist of doubleheaders around the metro area. 

14U-Birth year 2006 & 2007
$325 per player 

  • The primary focus is on softball fundamentals, skill development and providing a competitive and fun experience. 
  • Mandatory tryouts will be used to form teams. 
  • Teams play a league game schedule, plus a minimum of (3) Tournaments, State Qualifier and State Tournament (if qualified). 
  • Practices and play will be held four nights per week. 
  • Player pitch league with teams at the A, B and C levels.  
  • League games consist of doubleheaders around the metro area.

Traveling Softball Season Schedule

All teams play in the Tri-County league. Their site has a lot of helpful information. Check it out at www.tricountyleaguemn.com

  • 8U  -  Season runs from May - July.  First practice will be mid April. Games are Wednesdays starting May 5th. After school is out Monday games will be added. 
  • 10U – Season runs from May – July.  First practice will be mid April. Games are played Tuesday and Thursdays starting May 6th. 
  • 12U - Season runs from May– July.  First practice will be mid April. Games are played Monday and Wednesday, starting May 3rd.
  • 14U - Season runs from mid-May – July.  Games are Monday and Wednesday starting May 18th. 
  • 16U - Season runs from June – July.  First practice will be mid May. Games are Monday and Wednesday, starting June 2nd. 
  • ** all schedules are tentative and will be finalized at a later date.

  • 1 practice per week (minimum), time will be set by the coach
  • Typically there are no games the week of the 4th of July
